Grover Corlew Unveils New Public Art Installation in Pompano Beach

“Gather,” a 28-foot bronze and stainless-steel sculpture, now stands as a centerpiece for Grover Corlew’s new Atlantic Boulevard mixed-use development

POMPANO BEACH, Fla.  (August 16, 2023)Grover Corlew, a real estate investment management ground and luxury multifamily developer, has unveiled a new public art installation on the 6,932-square-foot public pedestrian plaza that is part of Grover Corlew’s Atlantic Boulevard office, retail and Mayla Pompano multifamily development.

Grover Corlew commissioned world-renowned San Francisco-based artist Michael Szabo to create “Gather,” a 1,600 lb. bronze and stainless-steel sculpture standing 28 feet high and eight feet wide, which is now the largest public artwork in Pompano Beach.

Mayla’s name was originally derived from the Hindi word “mela,” which means a gathering of people, which is why the sculpture was named “Gather.” The sculpture will symbolize the synergy that arises from a well-planned and vibrant community such as Mayla Pompano.

Szabo is known for creating large-scale, site-integrated sculptures that speak to the environments they inhabit, prompting conversations between art, the physical spaces where they reside and the humans they engage with.  Szabo also created the dazzling bronze and stainless-steel infinity symbol sculpture at the north entrance to the Pompano Beach Cultural Center.

Mayla Pompano is scheduled to open in September 2023.

Grover Corlew’s new Mayla Pompano multifamily residences feature studio to three-bedroom open floorplan rental units spanning from 548 to 1,383 sq. ft. Amenity highlights include spa-inspired bathrooms with soaking tubs, frameless shower enclosures, back-lit vanity mirrors; quartz countertops, high-end cabinetry with under cabinet lights, stainless steel appliances, bottom mount sinks, built-in microwaves, glass cooktops, and full height tile backsplashes in the kitchen; walk-in closets with high-end shelving; private balconies; hurricane impact windows; and washer and dryers in each residence.

Residents of Mayla Pompano will have exclusive access to a two-story clubroom; co-workspaces; a TV lounge; a 24/7state-of-the-art fitness center and yoga-aerobics room; resort-style pools with cabanas; outdoor kitchens with seating at both buildings; a pedestrian bridge between buildings; a dog spa; bicycle storage and repair station; ample garage parking; storage cages; and interior mailrooms and package rooms.

Both adjacent office properties, 2335 and 2401 E. Atlantic, have already undergone substantial interior upgrades with exterior and ground-floor retail space renovations currently underway.
